We will not move away from the times of Ancient Greece, when the main and only form of athletes was its complete absence. Since then, the attitude to clothing has also changed, and sports have appeared where special clothing is indispensable.

Initially, sportswear was not very pretentious. Its main task was convenience and functionality, when movements should be free during performances and games of athletes, but at the same time the athlete is protected from environmental influences. There were also more specific requirements for clothing for certain sports. For example, for winter species, it is important that heat is maintained, but there is no overheating of the body.

The emergence of team sports could not but lead to the idea of ​​a single team uniform, so that watching the game, it would be easier to distinguish the players for both the spectators and the judges. Apparently, it was this stage that became the source of the birth of a common sports uniform.

Many athletes say that when they put on the uniform of their team, there is a feeling of unity, and if this official uniform also represents the country they represent, then patriotism gives an additional incentive to perform well. And also options for an unsuccessful, uncomfortable form can affect the results of the performances of athletes, famous athletes also write about this in their memoirs.

The annual team sports championships attract millions of spectators and fans, and it has become the norm for players to show not only their game, but also their clothes. This circumstance attracts many companies to the production of sports uniforms for national teams and gives the national leagues the opportunity to choose among manufacturers and developers of their own uniforms.

For example, the Russian national football team, which began its history in 1992, at first still played in the form of the USSR national team, but during its existence managed to work with many of the world's leading sportswear brands - Adidas, Nike, Reebok. Color combinations changed, ornaments were introduced that personified Russia, in addition to the colors of the tricolor, these were ornaments of the Kremlin wall or chain mail.

The Russian hockey team is still trying to keep a reminder of the form of the USSR national team, thanks to which it received the name "Red Machine", although, just like the players, it has undergone a sufficient number of changes.

It has already been mentioned that the most important task of a sports uniform is its convenience. But in our time, many sports have appeared that have specific requirements for sportswear.These types can include skiing, ski jumping, biathlon, freestyle skiing, cross-country skiing and other sports where clothing should provide maximum speed, but at the same time be warm, because all these are winter sports. Although, of course, the materials have changed here too, the peculiarities of the climate of different countries began to be taken into account, options for insulated uniforms appeared for the possibility of year-round classes.

The Olympic Games have become not only the largest sporting event in the world, but also the largest fashion show. After all, the number of spectators watching the opening and closing of the Olympic Games goes into the billions.

It is not surprising that from the moment when the idea of ​​a uniform uniform for national teams was first voiced, it happened in 1936 in Berlin.

Designers of the highest level rushed to develop the Olympic uniform.Yves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, and Pierre Cardin were noted in this field.

But the first form of the Russian team appeared more than a hundred years ago at the games of 1912, when representatives of the national team came to the opening in white jerseys, straw hats with ribbons in the colors of the national flag.

The modern Olympic uniform, unlike in 1912, includes more than a dozen items, up to bags and wallets. Leading designers are engaged in the development of such equipment, the most famous brands are involved in its manufacture.

The Olympic uniform set is divided into three categories - dress uniform, casual wear not during competitions, clothing for sports performances.

The main attention is always paid to the full dress uniform, this is exactly the clothes that are met. The difficulty in creating this clothing is that it is necessary to create a model that will look equally good on a two-meter basketball player, a powerful weightlifter and a fragile gymnast.

And it is ceremonial clothing that causes criticism and admiration, creates the image of the country for the team. Accordingly, the choice and development of it is usually decided at the state level. So it was in Soviet times, and so it continues to be now.

After all, the 1964 Olympics in Innsbruck are still not forgotten, where the USSR national team amazed everyone with luxurious fur coats made of golden seals. But this was rather an isolated case, because in those days the state ideology assumed that it was not the external side that was important in a person, but the inner content and the dress uniform more often resembled the weekend suits of party functionaries.

Bosco di Ciliege has been in charge of outfitting the Olympic team for the past 15 years.This collaboration brought different results, both recognition of the form as one of the best, and scandalous options. One of the branding scandals prompted the Federal Agency for Physical Education and Sports to develop uniform rules governing the use of national symbols, with special attention paid to the symbol of the country - the coat of arms of the Russian Federation.

The memories of the recent Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are still very fresh.

The form of the Russian national team, on which, especially the dress one, was subjected to multiple criticism from the very first show by athletes, designers and ordinary sports fans. With what they just did not compare - the form of a doorman, a waiter, a suit well known to the older generation of Buba Kastorsky and even a stripper. They also disagreed about the everyday game form, made in the style of the Russian avant-garde. At the same time, Bosco believes that the form fully reflected the theme of Rio de Janeiro.

Bosco's contract with the Russian Olympic Committee expired in January 2017 and the issue of further equipment for the national team is currently open.

It is possible that the next outfitter of the Olympic team will be a domestic company. Time will show what this will change and how it will affect the performance of athletes.
