History of the bra

A bra is an essential part of any woman's wardrobe.

Depending on its style, this type of lingerie is able to provide reliable protection and support, reshape and give a sexy shape to the female breast. In general, a bra performs many important functions: firstly, it protects the chest from deformation and bruises or damage. Secondly, he can slightly lift the chest, making it visually a little larger. And, thirdly, a bra can serve as an excellent component of an erotic image.

Story
A bra is that element of women's wardrobe, without which not a single image of modern beauties can do. Not everyone knows that the first mention of this underwear, which is now so familiar to every woman, is rooted in antiquity. Of course, in those days, not all beautiful ladies could afford such luxury, since the use of such underwear was then a very private and intimate matter: bras were made to order in the atelier or at the home of the couturier. Naturally, the cost of such models was quite high, and only rich and determined ladies could afford them.

The very style of those products was far from modern. Back then, the bra was simply intertwined strips of fabric that could hardly securely fix the chest and provide support for it.Bras, which are very close in style to those models that exist now, first appeared at the end of the 19th century. But it was not just a bodice, but a kind of corset so popular in those days with bones at the base of the chest. And only in the 20th century, the famous designer Paul Poiret invented the style of bras, which modern women still use today.

Styles of the past
First push-up
Such a secret trick as breast augmentation with a bra began to be used 250 years ago. It is now a bodice with push-up inserts that is a familiar and integral element of the wardrobe of many modern young ladies. But in the 19th century, it was necessary to have enough courage to wear such an unusual model that misleads others.

sweet dreams
The Sweet Dreams model is the first bra style that differs from its predecessors with a special soft cup. First appeared in the 50s of the last century. The advent of this kind of bra made life much easier for many women of those times who were tired of feeling the discomfort of hard, uncomfortable cups.

First sports bra
Previously, women loved to play sports no less than in our time. The first bra model designed specifically for outdoor enthusiasts was the Jogbra top. It was much looser and more comfortable than regular bras.

The creators of this product were the designers L. Lindahl and H. Miller. They themselves loved athletics, and in 1977 they came up with the idea of creating a sports bra for running. In the future, these models were also used for aerobics.Of course, sports bras of those times were inferior in many ways to their modern counterparts: they did not have such supportive properties and were not particularly wear-resistant.

"Angelica"
The world's first balconette appeared in the 60s of the last century. This model had a fairly rigid design. Cups only half covered the chest, and reliable support was provided by steel bones at the base of the cups.

Such a bodice received the unusual name "Angelica" after the film of the same name "Angelica. Marquise of Angels, in which the main character appeared on the screen in just such a model of underwear. In the USSR, the film was first broadcast in 1964, and since then a balconette of a similar cut has been called a beautiful female name.

At that time, only wealthy young ladies could get the Angelica bra.

Modern tendencies
To date, the range of women's bras is represented by a huge number of options. Naturally, depending on the style, these products are intended for various purposes. And in order to choose a model that will emphasize the attractiveness and highlight the advantages of your forms, you need to choose a bra based on the type of your figure.

In general, at the present stage of development of bras, they can be divided into several categories depending on such product characteristics as:
- Cup type. It can be soft or hard.
- The presence of bones. There are products that have bones, and there are those that are not equipped with them.
- Cup shape. There are closed, open models, as well as bras with triangular cups, with a V-neck, and also with inserts.
- Strap type. First of all, straps can be removable or sewn on. In addition, they are thin or wide.
